Dr. Troy Smith interviewed individuals regarding work performed in shirt factories and on tobacco farms. Participants discussed issues including working conditions in factories and in the fields on farms. Interviews describe a typical day of meeting production goals and various responsibilities in garment factories, preparing land for planting and the harvesting process, relationships with co-workers, and minimum wages paid.

2022-2023

The Upper Cumberland Institute at Tennessee Tech University conducted interviews with multiple Veterans as part of the Military History Series. Veterans serving in the armed forces during war time and peace keeping missions around the world give detailed accounts of their service throughout their enlistment. The topics discussed include both individual and shared experiences of encounters with fellow soldiers from various locations across the United States as well as their assigned duties. Veterans provide their personal views on issues concerning race, ethnicity, religion, homosexuality, foreign culture, family relations, mission activities, PTSD, and ability to assimilate to military lifestyle.
