Duration: 1 hour, 28 minutes, 20 seconds. File size: 80.4 MB. The panel began with an introduction of the four participants: moderator and alumni Corey Prince (Class of 1991), James Harris (Class of 1990), John James (Class of 1990), and Richard Fuqua (Class of 1990). Topics include why they attended Tennessee Tech, the campus climate when they were at Tech, how they developed the idea of a culture center and advocated for its funding, the many people who helped and supported them in advocating for the Center, pushback they received, their thoughts on the present Black Cultural Center and what it could be, advice for students and student leaders, how they have used their degrees after graduating, and some of their best memories of attending Tech. The discussion also included remarks by Tennessee Tech President Dr. Phil Oldham, Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Robert L. Owens, II, and Multicultural Affairs Director Charria Campbell on current efforts to recruit, retain, and support underrepresented students on campus.
