In September 1950, a new building for Tech' s teacher training program was provided by the construction of a $125,000 addition to the Seventh Street Elementary School, deeded to the college by Putnam County. It included Modern classrooms for eight grades, offices, a health clinic, a cafeteria, library, and band room. It was maintained by the college as a laboratory for the pre-professional preparation of elementary teachers. The facilities was for both observation and student teaching at the elementary level.
