2017 May 23 Audit and Business Committee meeting material: Maximum Increase of Tuitition and Fees

The major objective of this thesis is to see different ways in which the House with Two Rooms is contractible. The House with Two Rooms, also known as the Bing's House is an example of a contractible, non-collapsible space. In the first part, required definitions and proofs are provided. Later, the author uses different tools of elementary algebraic topology and geometric topology to illustrate two different theories which prove that the Bing's House is contractible. These methods are easier to view than the traditional method. Although the House with Two Rooms is non-collapsible, one of the theories constructs a space from the House with Two Rooms which is collapsible. In conclusion, the author defines the measure of collapsibility and gives an informal proof of what could be the measure of collapsibility of the House with Two Rooms.
